The AgniCycle logo is a thermodynamic diagram
Most logos are a vibe. This one is a diagram. Every element of the AgniCycle mark points at a specific piece of engine physics β and once you see it, you can't unsee it.
When you build tools for combustion researchers, your logo is the first thing an engineer judges you on. So we didn't want a generic flame clip-art. We wanted a mark that a thermodynamicist would look at and quietly nod. Here's what's actually in it.
The flame β Agni
Agni is Sanskrit for fire, and it's the root of the name. But look closely and the flame isn't a single blob β it's built in layered zones, the way a real diffusion flame is. The deep orange outer envelope, the brighter reaction layer inside it, and a hot yellow-white core: that's the temperature gradient of combustion, drawn honestly rather than stylized into a cartoon.
The blue base β the premixed zone
At the very bottom of the flame is a small band of blue. That's not an accident of color choice. In a real flame, the blue base is the premixed, fuel-lean region where combustion is most complete and the flame burns hottest and cleanest. Putting it at the foot of the mark keeps the physics in the right place: cool premixed base, hot products rising above.
The teal ring β the cycle
The flame sits inside a teal ring, and the ring is the other half of the name: cycle. An internal combustion engine doesn't just burn fuel β it runs a closed thermodynamic loop, intake to compression to power to exhaust, over and over. The ring is that loop.
The two arrowheads β and why they point clockwise
This is the detail we're most quietly proud of. The ring carries two arrowheads, both running clockwise. That direction is deliberate.
On a pressureβvolume (PβV) diagram β the working engineer's picture of an engine cycle β the area enclosed by the loop is the net work the engine produces. And the sign of that work depends on which way you go around:
- Trace the loop clockwise, and the cycle does net positive work on the surroundings β it's a heat engine, a power cycle.
- Trace it counter-clockwise, and you've drawn a refrigerator or heat pump β a cycle that consumes work.
AgniCycle is about engines that make power, so the arrows go clockwise. It's a one-bit signal that only the right audience will catch β but for that audience, it says everything.
Why bother?
Because the whole platform is built on the same principle: the physics under the surface should be real, not decorative. The Engine Simulator solves an actual thermodynamic cycle.
